ABOUT US

WELCOME, WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE

"Not Your Typical Yacht Club!"

Drop anchor. You've found your people.

Every great voyage has a beginning — ours started with a small crew of sailing enthusiasts who gathered at the Boyne River Inn in 1987 to dream up something special. From that spirited meeting, the Boyne Yacht Club (BYC) set sail.

By 1988, the club had rechristened itself the Boyne City Yacht Club (BCYC) under the steady helm of Commodore Jim Howell. The lounge of the old One Water Street became our informal clubhouse — and the 288 bold souls who signed on that first year earned their place in history as BCYC Charter Members.

Three decades and some seriously good times later, our crew has grown to over 550 members strong — and we're always welcoming new hands on deck.

BCYC is home to a fun-loving fleet of power boaters, sailors, and anyone who feels most alive near the water. Our calendar runs year-round, because life on Lake Charlevoix doesn't stop when the boats go up for the season. From the Ball and Change — our beloved mashup of the Change of Watch and Commodore's Ball — to an ever-evolving lineup of social events, there's always a reason to show up and make a memory.

Ready to come aboard? Joining is quick, easy, and the best decision you'll make all season.
